Sponges
Every sponge here was cut and cleaned by hand on Yialos. Sizes are measured dry, at the widest point, as they arrive. Each one opens up and grows the first time it is wet.
The loofah is the exception: not a sponge at all but a dried gourd, grown rather than dived for. It keeps company with them in the baskets, so it keeps company with them here.
